Fantasy Football Starts and Sits for Week 16 in 2014

Published Dec. 18, 2014 10:00 a.m. ET

Starts:

QB – Mark Sanchez, PHI

Sanchez struggled last week against Dallas, but Washington has allowed a total of 10 touchdown passes in the last three games (most in NFL). Also, in three road starts this season, Sanchez accounts for an average of two TDs per game and at least 200 passing yards.

Other notables: Matt Ryan (ATL), Matthew Stafford (DET), and Robert Griffin III (WSH)

RB – Fred Jackson, BUF

Some will worry about C.J. Spiller returning to action for the Bills, but not I. Oakland has allowed one receiving TD to opposing running backs in four straight games. Two weeks ago, FJax caught 10 passes against the Broncos.

Other notables: Joique Bell (DET), Steven Jackson (ATL), and Mark Ingram (NO)

WR – Mike Evans, TB

Evans is a TD-machine. The rookie has scored 11 receiving touchdowns this season, two behind the leader (Dez Bryant). Green Bay has allowed 10 TDs to opposing wide receivers in the past five games.

Other notables: Jordan Matthews (PHI), DeSean Jackson (WSH), and Eric Decker (NYJ)

TE – Martellus Bennett, CHI

Other than the fact that Jimmy Clausen will look towards Bennett in check-down scenarios, the Lions have allowed 34 receptions to opposing TEs in the last five games (6.8 receptions per game).

Other notables: Zach Ertz (PHI), Eric Ebron (DET), and Jermaine Gresham (CIN)

Sits:

QB – Eli Manning, NYG

The Rams haven’t allowed a passing touchdown in three straight games. They haven’t allowed a multi-TD passing performance since Week 7. Also, only the Seahawks and Panthers have allowed fewer passing yards than St. Louis in the last three games.

Other notables: Ryan Lindley (ARI), Derek Carr (OAK), and Philip Rivers (SD)

RB – Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson, NYJ

A running back hasn’t scored a touchdown against the Patriots since Week 9, when Ronnie Hillman scored two. No running back has rushed for over 100 yards against New England since Week 8 (Matt Forte).

Other notables: Carlos Hyde (SF), Isaiah Crowell (CLE), and Bishop Sankey (TEN)

WR – Percy Harvin, NYJ

Last week, Harvin was limited with an ankle injury. He didn’t record a catch in a game for the first time this season. This week, he’ll likely receive the attention of Darrelle Revis. Harvin might have back-to-back games without a reception.

Other notables: Michael Floyd (ARI), Rueben Randle (NYG), and Sammy Watkins (BUF)

TE – Mychal Rivera, OAK

Rivera was targeted 12 times last week against the Chiefs. He has tallied seven receptions in back-to-back games. Why bench him? It’s all about matchups. I continue to fade TEs that face the Bills. Like I do every week, I will remind you that only two tight ends have scored a touchdown against Buffalo: Martellus Bennett (Week 1) and Tim Wright (Week 6).

Other notables: Larry Donnell (NYG), Charles Clay (MIA), and Heath Miller (PIT)
