SOMERSET WEST, South Africa (AP) Former South Africa test batsman Alviro Petersen has been charged with attempted match-fixing and tampering with evidence, the latest former international to be implicated in corruption in one of the country's domestic tournaments.
Petersen, who played 36 tests for South Africa, the last in 2015, faces a series of other charges under Cricket South Africa's anti-corruption code.
CSA says that the former opening batsman has been charged with, among other things, contriving to fix a game or games in a Twenty20 tournament in 2015, accepting bribes, and obstructing an investigation. Petersen has 14 days to respond to the charges.
Former South Africa batsman Gulam Bodi was banned for 20 years and ex-test wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile was banned for 12 years as part of the same match-fixing investigation.
