LUXEMBOURG CITY, Luxembourg (AP) The European Short-Course Swimming Championships in Israel will be delayed a year until 2015.

The European swimming federation, known by its French initials LEN, says its policy-making bureau voted to change the event date and city to avoid a ''quite overloaded'' sports calendar.

The annual event, originally scheduled for 2014, will be held Dec. 2-6, 2015, in Herzliya.

The European body made no mention in a news release of Israel's military conflict with Hamas in Gaza. It says Israel's swimming federation had already requested moving the event from Netanya.
