Equestrian rider dies at horse trials

Sebastian Steiner of Italy has died while competing at the Montelibretti International Horse Trials.

The 22-year-old Steiner was on a 15-year-old gelding named Cartago when they fell at the 11th fence at the event Saturday in Milan. The horse was not injured.

Ground jury president Christina Klingspor said in a statement: "On behalf of the whole sport, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Sebastian's family."

The accident is being investigated.
