D-backs sign second-round pick Yerzy

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with catcher Andrew Yerzy, their second-round selection (52nd overall) in the 2016 MLB Draft.

Yerzy, 17, is a 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Third Team All-American and the co-champion of Major League Baseball's 2015 Jr. Home Run Derby at the MLB All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park, and was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game at Wrigley Field.

The left-handed hitting backstop has played for the U18 Canadian Jr. National Team since he was 15 years old, and was committed to play at Notre Dame.

In total, Arizona has agreed to terms with 26 of their 40 selections from the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, including eight of their first 10 and 17 of their first 20.
