The Diamondbacks and All-Star center fielder A.J. Pollock on Monday night agreed to a two-year contract extension.
Pollock, who broke out last season with an All-Star selection and Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, will earn $10.25 million, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The extension avoids an arbitration hearing later this month and covers Pollock's first two years of salary arbitration.
Pollock made $519,500 last season, when hit .315 with 20 home runs and 39 stolen bases. He accumulated 7.4 WAR, the fourth highest in the National League by a position player.
The D-backs will pay Pollock $3.5 million this year and $6.75 million in 2017. Pollock had asked for $3.9 million and had been offered $3.65 million as part of the arbitration process.
The D-backs still have control of Pollock through the 2018 season before he can become a free agent.
