Diamondbacks minor league pitcher Evan Marshall was transferred to the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix to continue his recovery from injuries he suffered as the results of a line drive to his head.

Marshall, 25, spent more than a week in an El Paso, Texas, hospital before he was cleared to fly and on Thursday was transferred to Barrow, an internationally recognized leader in neurological research.

Marshall was struck on the right side of his head by a comebacker Aug. 4 while pitching for Triple-A Reno at El Paso. He underwent surgery to alleviate swelling and pressure while in El Paso, the D-backs said last week.

Marshall appeared in 70 games for the D-backs in parts of two seasons -- he was one of the team's top relievers last year -- and is 4-6 with a 3.45 ERA. He was 0-2 with a 6.08 ERA this season before he was sent to Reno, where he had a 6.40 ERA in 31 games.
