Coyotes acquire Christian Thomas from Montreal in trade for Lessio

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Coyotes have acquired forward Christian Thomas from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Lucas Lessio.

The 23-year-old Thomas has registered two assists in five games with the Canadiens this season. He also has seven goals and seven assists with the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League. The 5-foot-9, 180 pound Thomas played 18 games with the Canadiens last season, collecting one assist and seven penalty minutes.

Thomas was drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Lessio, 22, a second-round pick of the Coyotes in 2011, had two goals and three assists in 26 games for Arizona last season and has spent all of this season with Springfield of the AHL, where he had seven goals and five assists in 24 games.
