Cowboys' Jerry Jones: I believe Roger Goodell is telling the truth

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes NFL commissioner Roger Goodell never watched the video of Ray Rice punching his fiancee in a hotel elevator before it surfaced earlier this week.

"He said he did not and I believe him," Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. "But the good news -- not good news, but we've opened up a real investigation, unfettered investigation, and I think we need to let that show us the results and let it unfold."

Jones said domestic violence is a matter he takes "very seriously" and says he believes the NFL has made changes on how a situation like this will be handled in the future.

Should Goodell face discipline for the way it was handled?

"He's been a very good commissioner," Jones said. "He's acknowledged that he's mishandled this, and he's said that he'll do better in the future. He can and I believe he will."
