Clippers' Blake Griffin has stitches removed, cleared for light workouts
Blake Griffin is progressing in his recovery from surgery to remove a staph infection in his right elbow.
Griffin told FOX Sports Prime Ticket on its pregame show that he had stitches removed on Monday morning and that he's cleared for light workouts but not practice.
There is still no timetable for his return.
Griffin no longer has to wear a brace, either. He was at Monday's Clippers game against Memphis wearing a fitted suit, something he couldn't do with the brace.
The Clippers won four games in a row a before Monday's game against Memphis - without Griffin and are 4-1 since he's been out.
For the first two weeks, Griffin wasn't allowed to do any activity because he couldn't sweat. Now that the stitches are out, Griffin can begin light workouts.
The Clippers are headed on a four-game roadtrip, with the first game at Houston on Wednesday, followed by games at Memphis, Chicago and Minnesota. Griffin is not scheduled to make the roadtrip.
Griffin has missed two weeks and an estimated timetable for these types of staph infections is 4-6 weeks. It's still unclear how much longer Griffin will be out.
