Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali leaves huge tip after post-game party

By Sam Gardner, FOXSports.com All too often, we hear stories about overpaid professional athletes stiffing the wait staff at restaurants — sometimes even when they’re not being cheap at all — but Tamba Hali is apparently out to show that not every pro is a cheapskate when it comes to gratuity. According to KCTV, the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and more than a dozen friends and family dined at Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chao Sunday night after Kansas City’s 17-16 win over Houston. The total cost of the meal came out to $1,827.09, with an automatic $296.69 gratuity included in that cost. (Those parties of six or more, they’ll always get you.) Then on top of that, Hali added an extra $1,000 tip to bring the total to $2,827.09 — and there's a receipt to prove it.

The nearly $1,300 total tip works out to about a 71 percent gratuity — an awfully generous amount for anyone (even a guy who signed a five-year, $60 million contract in 2011) and a welcome surprise for the servers who waited on Hali and his party. "It made our day. Hands down, it made our day," waiter Joshua Roan told KCTV. "The staff was over the top. He was the last guest in the building. There was a lot of shouting and hollering after he left. We had to wait until he left. We had to keep it professional." The Chiefs look to move to 8-0 on the year Sunday afternoon when they host the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead Stadium. We assume the folks at Fogo de Chao will be watching and hoping for another Hali victory celebration Sunday night. Questions? Comments?
