CANTON -- The Canton Charge aren't just having success in the D-League. They're having success doing their job, apparently, by developing talent for the NBA clubs that need it.

On Thursday, guard Jorge Gutierrez signed a 10-day contact with the Brooklyn Nets to become the Charge's second call-up of the season.

Cavaliers acting GM David Griffin wrote about the move on his Twitter account Thursday:

Gutierrez is a 6-foot-3 guard and has played 35 games (all starts) with the Charge, averaging 13.9 points, 6.9 assists and 5.7 rebounds. He was also in training camp with the Nets, who waived Gutierrez just before the start of the regular season.

After four years at the University of California, Gutierrez was selected by the Charge in the second round of the 2012 D-League draft. He was named to the D-League's All-Rookie first team and All-Defense team in his first season.

Gutierrez is a native of Chihuahua, Mexico, and will wear No. 13 for the Nets.

The Charge (23-15) are a half game out of first place in the East Division and host the Springfield Armor on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Forward/center Arinze Onuaku was the Charge's first call-up of the season. He signed his second 10-day contract of the season with the Cavs on Tuesday.
