The San Diego Chargers announced Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Stevie Johnson. Johnson, whose seven-year career includes six seasons with the Buffalo Bills and one with the San Francisco 49ers, has agreed to a three-year contract with the Bolts.

Johnson became the first player in Buffalo history to post three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons (2010-12), with the 2010 season being his best, setting career highs with 82 catches, 1,073 yards and 10 touchdowns. He joins a Chargers receiving core that now includes Keenan Allen, Malcom Floyd, Dontrelle Inman and recently signed free agent/return specialist Jacoby Jones.

Last season with the 49ers, the six-foot-two-inch, 207-pound veteran caught 35 passes for 435 yards and three touchdowns, his lowest numbers since his sophomore year. He was released by the 49ers following the season.

Reports note that Johnson had offers from both the Chargers and the Patriots, ultimately selecting San Diego where he looks to help replace an offense that lost Eddie Royal to the Chicago Bears last week.

Johnson is the Chargers' fourth offensive player signing during the free agency period, joining guard Orlando Franklin (Denver) and wide receiver/return specialist Jacoby Jones (Baltimore), as well as left tackle King Dunlap and center Trevor Robinson who were re-signed.
