Cardinals tab Marco Gonzales to start second game of Tuesday's doubleheader

ST. LOUIS -- Cardinals fans will get their first chance this season to watch Marco Gonzales take the mound.

On Sunday, the Cardinals announced Gonzales would start the second game of the team's doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.

Gonzales is making his first start in the major leagues since 2015. Gonzales underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2016. He is 1-3 with a 3.26 ERA in five starts with the Memphis Redbirds, the team's Triple-A affiliate, this year.

The Cardinals also picked up left-handed pitcher Sean Gilmartin on Sunday after he was released from the New York Mets. Gilmartin was assigned to Triple-A Memphis.
