WHITE SOX 8, BREWERS 3
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Chris Sale pitched seven solid innings, Alex Rios and Alejandro De Aza hit well in their return from the World Baseball Classic and the Chicago White Sox beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-3 Thursday.
Sale allowed four hits, including an inside-the-park home run by Ryan Braun and another solo homer by Donnie Murphy.
Rios hit two doubles and drove in two runs and De Aza doubled and singled. They faced each other in the WBC championship game in San Francisco on Tuesday night, when De Aza and the Dominican Republic topped Rios and Puerto Rico.
Jeff Keppinger and Gordon Beckham each hit home runs for the White Sox.
Brewers starter Mike Fiers was roughed up for seven runs and eight hits in three innings.
RANGERS 10, ANGELS 9
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Josh Hamilton homered in his first game against his former team, Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick and Hank Conger also homered off Derek Lowe in the Los Angeles' 10-9 loss to the Texas Rangers on Thursday night.
Leonys Martin hit a bases-loaded double with one out in the bottom of the ninth to lift Texas.
Conger added a two-run triple in the sixth and Erick Aybar hit a solo home run into the Rangers' right-field bullpen for Los Angeles.
Pujols started at first base for the second time in three games and has played three straight games for the first time this spring.
Lowe, pitching for the third time in seven days, faced the minimum over his first three innings before allowing the four home runs in a six-batter span.
INDIANS 5, DIAMONDBACKS 4
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Michael Brantley hit his first home run of spring training, a three-run shot off Ian Kennedy, and the Cleveland Indians beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 on Thursday.
Brantley hit a 3-0 fastball from Kennedy over the right-field fence in the first inning. Omir Santos drove in two runs with a double and single for Cleveland.
Martin Prado had a two-run double for Arizona.
Carlos Carrasco, competing for the fifth spot in the Indians' rotation, allowed four runs on five hits in five innings to get the victory.
Kennedy, the D-backs' Opening Day starter, was tagged for five runs on nine hits in five innings. He struck out seven.
DODGERS 5, CUBS 4
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Alex Castellanos hit his fourth spring homer, a three-run drive Thursday that led the Los Angeles Dodgers over a split squad of Chicago Cubs 5-4.
Castellanos connected against Scott Feldman, who was making his third appearance in spring since leaving Texas and signing with the Cubs. Feldman allowed four runs and seven hits and struck out five in five innings.
Starlin Castro homered off Dodgers starter Stephen Fife.
Matt Kemp tripled for the Dodgers. He is 6 for 33 this spring.
ATHLETICS 10, REDS 9
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) -- Derek Norris homered as the Oakland Athletics roughed up Johnny Cueto and beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-9 Thursday.
Cueto allowed five runs on five hits and two walks in 1 2/3 inning.
Mark Prior, trying to make another comeback, pitched a scoreless inning for the Reds. He struck out one and hit a batter.
A's starter Brett Anderson pitched for the first time in a game since March 10. He had been out with a strained right trapezius. The left-hander missed most of last season while recovering from elbow surgery.
Todd Frazier and Derrick Robinson homered off Anderson.
CUBS 7, MARINERS 4
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- Pitcher Jeff Samardzija hit his second home run this spring and also threw six innings Thursday night to lead a split squad of Chicago Cubs over the Seattle Mariners 7-4.
Samardzija, set to be the Cubs' Opening Day starter, struck out seven. He allowed four runs and nine hits.
Samardzija hit a solo homer and an RBI single. Alfonso Soriano and Brad Nelson also homered for Chicago, and David DeJesus had two hits and drove in a run.
Justin Smoak homered and had a sacrifice fly for the Mariners. Jason Bay and Raul Ibanez added RBI singles.
Jon Garland, bidding to win a spot in the Seattle rotation, went six innings and gave up two runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
ROCKIES 10, GIANTS 4
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Willin Rosario hit a two-run homer off Matt Cain, and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 10-4 on Thursday night.
Making his next-to-last start before he opens the season opens April 1 against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Cain gave up four runs and seven hits, did not walk a batter and struck out eight.
Rosario's second homer of the spring came after a one-out single by Todd Helton.
Rockies left-hander Drew Pomeranz, making a bid for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, pitched five innings and gave up three runs and 10 hits. He walked two and struck out four.
