Brewers' Villar hits unique milestone

BY foxsports • August 29, 2016

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Jonathan Villar stole his 50th base of the season in a win over the Colorado Rockies last week, giving him 50 on the season.

He's now just four short of Pat Listach for third on the franchise's all-time list, but trails Tommy Harper, who set the franchise record in 1969, by 23 steals.

However, his versatility is a rarity amongst shortstops.

Villar has been playing third base recently as the Brewers take an extended look at top prospect Orlando Arcia, but has played 105 games at shortstop this season.

With 50 steals, 31 doubles and 11 home runs this season, Villar is just the fourth shortstop since 1900 to rack up at least 50 steals, 30 doubles and 10 home runs in a single season, joining Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes and Hall of Famer Honus Wagner.
