Brewers place starter Matt Garza on 10-day DL
The Milwaukee Brewers placed starting pitcher Matt Garza on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with a lower-leg strain.
The move is retroactive to Sunday, July 23.
Outfielder and top prospect Lewis Brinson was called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs to fill Garza's spot on the roster.
Garza is 4-5 this season with a 3.83 ERA and a 1.263 WHIP through 15 starts.
He made his last appearance for the Brewers on Friday, allowing five hits and two earned runs through five innings in a 6-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Taking Garza's spot in the rotation for Thursday's game against Washington will be Michael Blazek, who will be making his first major-league start after 108 career relief appearances. Blazek did start 10 games -- of his 20 appearances -- for Triple-A Colorado Springs this season.
