Brewers minor-league stars of the week: June 29

Published Jun. 29, 2015 10:30 a.m. ET

Each week FOXSportsWisconsin.com identifies the top pitcher and position player from the Milwaukee Brewers' top four main affiliates: Triple-A Colorado Springs, Double-A Biloxi, High-A Brevard County and Low-A Wisconsin. Here's a look at all eight players who made the list for the week of June 22-28.

TRIPLE-A COLORADO SPRINGS (2-4)

Player of the Week: INF Elian Herrera

Week stats: .400 (8 for 20), 1 2B, 1 RBI in six games

Recent highlights: All Herrera has done in Triple-A is hit. The 30-year-old had a three-hit night Thursday against Oklahoma City and a two-hit game Saturday in Memphis. After hitting .212 in 38 games with the Brewers, Herrera has a .402 batting average in 31 games with the Sky Sox.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Hiram Burgos

Week stats: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 8 K

Recent highlights: Released by the Brewers late last season, Burgos is making the most of his second chance. The right-hander made seven starts for High-A Brevard County in April before being promoted to Double-A Biloxi. After six starts for the Shuckers, Burgos jumped to Triple-A. He lasted just four innings in his first start with Colorado Springs, but his second outing was a gem. Burgos held Memphis to just two hits with eight strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in the Sky Sox's 2-0 victory.

DOUBLE-A BILOXI (3-1)

Player of the Week: SS Orlando Arcia

Week stats: .389 (7 for 18), 2 2B, 2 3B, 3 RBI, 2 SB in four games

Recent highlights: After going 0 for 3 with a walk in the Southern League All-Star Game on Tuesday, Arcia had two hits in three of Biloxi's four games this week. Milwaukee's top prospect has an extra-base hit in each of his last three games, including hitting a double and a triple Friday at Jacksonville.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Jorge Lopez

Week stats: 8IP, 3H, 1ER, 4BB, 8K

Recent highlights: Lopez continued his strong season by allowing just one run on three hits over eight innings in Biloxi's 4-1 victory in Jacksonville on Saturday. The 22-year-old has a 1.00 ERA in four starts since he was touched for six runs in four innings on May 27.

HIGH-A BREVARD COUNTY (1-5-1)

Player of the Week: 3B Taylor Brennan

Week stats: .292 (7 for 24), 2 2B, 4 RBI in seven games

Recent highlights: It was a tough week for Brevard County, but Brennan was a bright spot. The third-base prospect hit safely in five of seven games, collecting multiple hits Monday and Wednesday at Lakeland. Brennan is hitting .246 with no home runs and 30 RBI in 73 games for the Manatees.

Pitcher of the Week: LHP Wei-Chung Wang

Week stats: 7.2 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Recent highlights: Wang put forth his finest effort of the season in his first start since being designated for assignment by the Brewers. The left-hander held Lakeland scoreless on four hits over 7 2/3 innings Wednesday but earned a no decision in Brevard County's 1-0 loss. Milwaukee took a bit of a risk by exposing Wang to waivers in order to clear a 40-man roster spot for third baseman Chris Dominguez. The move paid off, as the 23-year-old cleared waivers partially due to his high salary for a minor-leaguer (since he was in the big leagues as a Rule 5 pick in 2014) and due to his 5.27 ERA in High-A.

LOW-A WISCONSIN (2-2)

Player of the Week: OF Brandon Diaz

Week stats: .500 (6 for 12), 1 HR, 3 RBI in three games

Recent highlights: Diaz continued his strong June by going 6 for 12 this past week, which was shortened for the Timber Rattlers due to the Midwest League All-Star Game held Tuesday in Peoria. The 20-year-old went 3 for 3 with a home run on Saturday and 3 for 5 with two RBI on Sunday.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Devin Williams

Week stats: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

Recent highlights: Williams held Clinton scoreless on two hits with seven strikeouts over six innings Saturday. Milwaukee's second-round pick in the 2013 draft has a 1.65 ERA over his last six starts for the Timber Rattlers. Williams is 2-4 with a 3.12 ERA in his first full season of professional baseball.
