Brewers activate Kintzler from DL, option Figaro to Triple-A

The Milwaukee Brewers activated right-hander Brandon Kintzler from the disabled list Thursday, optioning right-hander Alfredo Figaro to Triple-A Nashville.

Kintzler threw a simulated game Wednesday and was set to get checked out Thursday morning before a roster move was made.

Placed on the disabled list with a mild strained right rotator cuff on April 12 retroactive to April 9, Kintzler hasn't allowed a run in his five innings this season. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke plans on easing the right-hander back into a high-leverage role, but Kintzler's return will only add to what has been a dominant bullpen.

"I'm dying (to get back)," Kintzler said Wednesday. "I can't deal with the stress of these games anymore. Half the time I can't watch the pitches. It's just tough when you can't control it. I feel like I'm emotionally attached to everyone that is pitching. I want everyone to do good. I want to see them succeed. Hopefully I can get back and help out a bit."

Called up Monday to add a fresh arm to the bullpen after a 14-inning game Sunday, Figaro saved the relief corps when Tuesday's game went to extra innings. He worked two scoreless innings before allowing what turned out to be the game-winning home run to Chase Headley leading off the 13th inning.
