BoSox make light of unflattering Sandoval pic with #PandaPose
Earlier this week a photo circulated showing newly-acquired Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval with his belly protruding a bit, spurring a bevy of jokes on social media about the man also known as Kung Fu Panda.
But with the exception one offseason slimdown, Panda's playing weight has hovered around 245 pounds his entire career -- a figure of which Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington has said he was well aware.
On Friday, two of Sandoval's Red Sox teammates, Hanley Ramirez and starting pitcher Joe Kelly, have made it clear that they've got Panda's back with this show of support:

That #PandaPose is smooth. It looks a little more like Fat Joe's lean than the A's Bernie Lean.
On Thursday, Sandoval addressed the reaction to the photo:
"Critics have said that I am lazy, that I am not working hard; that picture caught me at a bad angle," he told Marly Rivera of ESPNDeportes.com. "But once again, let them say whatever they want to say. I will prove who I am on the field and show Boston fans how hard I am working to be a champion with this team, too."
