Bengals WR Green leaves practice on cart with toe injury

CINCINNATI -- Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was taken off the practice field Wednesday on a cart after apparently re-injuring a big toe during warmups. Green slammed his helmet in frustration as trainers and head coach Marvin Lewis were on their way over to attend to him.
Lewis was non-committal about Green’s status. When asked by reporters after practice about Green, Lewis deftly smiled – a sign that he wasn’t going to divulge any information – and said: “We’ll see.”
Green has started all four games for the Bengals but left the Week 2 contest against Atlanta during the opening possession when pain from the injury became too much. He had missed one day of practice leading up to that game. A MRI showed negative for any breaks and Green returned the following week against Tennessee to catch six passes for 102 yards in a 33-7 victory.
Green has 17 catches, which is tied for the team lead with Mohamed Sanu, for a team-leading 314 yards and two touchdowns. He had five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown last Sunday at New England.
The Bengals (3-1) host Carolina (3-2) Sunday at 1 p.m. at Paul Brown Stadium.
