Badgers long snapper Bay gets on the stat sheet -- and that's OK
Before he signed on with Wisconsin, long snapper Adam Bay said he hoped to have a quiet four years with the Badgers.
Indeed, if you've heard Bay's name called this season it was probably only on a couple of occasions. And that's if at all.
As a long snapper, the worst thing that can happen to Bay is a bad snap, whether it's into the ground or too high for the punter or holder. I don't know about you, but I can't recall one poor snap from Bay all season. I'm sure there's some snaps he had that were better than others, and some he might kick himself over as not being perfect, but has there been a punt, field-goal attempt or extra-point attempt that has been affected by a bad snap? My answer to this is a loud and definitive no.
Not bad for a kid who was playing high school football last year.
Bay did get in the stat sheet twice this season. The bad: He was called for a holding penalty against Michigan. The good: In the Big Ten championship vs. Ohio State he recorded his first collegiate tackle (and a solo one, at that).
Sure seems like Wisconsin's long snapping duties for the next three years are in good hands, quite literally.
