Badgers chop their way to No. 4 in College Football Playoff rankings

Win and in.
The Wisconsin Badgers were slotted at No. 4 in the fifth College Football Playoff rankings, released Tuesday night, meaning a win on Saturday over Ohio State in the Big Ten championship would all but capture a berth in the four-team bracket -- and a chance for a national title.
Ranked fifth last week, the 12-0 Badgers surpassed Alabama and Miami, which fell from their rankings of No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Both programs suffered their first losses of the year over the weekend -- Alabama was defeated by Auburn, and Miami ceded to a 5-7 Pittsburgh squad.
Clemson (11-1), Auburn (10-2) and Oklahoma (11-1) are the three teams ahead of the Badgers.
Wisconsin goes head-to-head with Ohio State on Saturday. The Buckeyes are ranked at No. 8 in the latest poll and have won three straight games since their embarrassing 55-24 loss to Iowa Nov. 4.
