ASU coach Todd Graham said, as per policy, Durant will be suspended and the team will await the state and school legal processes to play themselves out.

"We owe it to our guys for the process to play itself out," Graham said. "If you're guilty, you're going to be punished to the fullest. You deserve due process to gather all the facts."

According to the arrest report from the Tempe Police Department, police were called to the scene on Apache Boulevard by a witness who reported observing a male hit a female while both were seated in a parked SUV.

Durant was observed exiting the vehicle and told police he had been involved in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend.

The victim told police that the two had argued, and she told Durant she wanted him to leave. She said Durant demanded to go to her apartment to retrieve some property, and when she refused, he hit her once in the face and grabbed her around the neck.

The report said the victim had visible injuries, including a small bruise and red mark beneath her left eye and several abrasions and bruising around her neck. Police said the victim refused medical treatment.

Durant has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and three counts of disorderly conduct. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Maricopa County Court on Wednesday, March 18.

Durant was not listed on ASU's spring roster on Monday, the Sun Devils' first practice session of March.

The loss of Durant is significant considering he was viewed as the favorite to win the Devilbacker position on defense. Ismael Murphy-Richardson took first-team reps at the spot on Monday.
