TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona women’s basketball team fell to No. 21 Colorado, 55-42 at McKale Center on Friday night.

Junior Carissa Crutchfield scored eight points and added two assists in the contest, while junior Alli Gloyd had eight points and junior Kama Griffitts had six rebounds.

The Wildcats (11-13, 3-10) forced 20 turnovers but couldn't muster enough offense against the Buffaloes (19-5, 8-5).

“Obviously, it’s a tough loss,” Arizona head coach Niya Butts said. “I thought we did enough defensively -- holding them to 55 points gives yourself a chance to win -- but we didn’t do enough offensively to win the game.”

UA and Colorado traded buckets in the early portion of the first half, but the Buffs took control with a 14-0 run to go up 25-11. Arizona responded with an 8-0 run of its own to head into the locker room trailing 30-23. Gloyd had eight points in the first half to lead all players.

The second half was one of runs, as the Buffs came out on a 10-0 charge to open the half before the Wildcats went on an 8-0 run of their own to get within nine. That was as close as it would get, though.

“It was just tough for us to score,” Butts said. “We didn’t share the ball as well as we needed to. We had some spurts in transitions when we got some things going, but just not enough to get the win.”

Sophomore Jen Reese led Colorado with 15 points and six rebounds.

Arizona takes on Utah on Sunday at 5 p.m. at McKale Center for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness game. Fans are invited to wear pink to support breast cancer survivors, and the first 500 fans will receive pink pom-poms.
