Arizona seventh at NCAA women's swimming

Led by Margo Geer's third-place finish in the 50 freestyle, the Arizona women's swim team is in seventh place after Thursday's first day of competiton at the NCAA Championships inside the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center on Thursday.

The Wildcats have 68 points. Georgia leads the standings with 189 points, followed by Stanford (136) and California (126).

Arizona opened the finals with a seventh-place finish in the 200 free relay as Geer, Alana Pazevic, Taylor Schick and Grace Finnegan finished in 1:28.11.

Bonnie Brandon took fifth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:36.91, and Geer, the defending national champion, took third in the 50 free in 21.73 seconds. She had a personal-best time of 21.53 in the semfinl round.

To close out the night, the team of Brandon, Emma Schoettmer, Ashley Evans and Geer finished second in the B final of the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:31.24.
