Arizona DB Patrick Peterson plays offense, throws awesome pass against Lions
By Sam Gardner, FOXSports.com At long last, the Arizona Cardinals have an effective quarterback. One problem: He’s a defensive back. On Sunday, third-year Cards cornerback Patrick Peterson lined up as a wide receiver during a play against the Detroit Lions. This in and of itself wasn’t exceptional, as head coach Bruce Arians previously stated that the former LSU star had the potential to be a top-five wide receiver and indicated that the super-athletic Peterson would be playing a role on offense this year. That said, I don’t figure they intended to use him like they did in the GIF above. That’s Peterson taking a blown-up end-around, rolling out and throwing a strike to Kerry Taylor. We have something of an obligation to point out that a better throw probably might have netted Peterson his first career touchdown pass — or at least a few more yards — but when talking about a team that started John Skelton, Kevin Kolb and Ryan Lindley under center last year, one shouldn’t be too picky.
