Arizona center Tarczewski out 4-6 weeks with foot injury

Arizona senior center Kaleb Tarczewski, the lone returning starter from last season's Elite Eight team, is expected to miss the next four to six weeks with a foot injury, according to the school's sports information staff.

The 7-foot, 250-pound Tarczewski suffered the injury, which is being describedf as a stress reaction and strained muscle to his left foot, in Thursday night's victory over Santa Clara in the opening round of the Wooden Legacy tournament in Fullerton, Calif.

He is shooting a team-leading 57.7 percent from the field and averaging 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in five games. He entered the season with 110 career starts -- 10th most in school history -- and 18 victories short of Matt Muehlebach's record for most in a playing career.

In his absence, 7-foot sophomore Dusan Ristic will become Arizona's starting center, and 6-11 freshman Chance Comanche will have a larger role off the bench. Ristic is averaging 5.7 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Arizona is 6-1 and ranked No. 19 in this week's AP poll. The Wildcats face their toughest test of the young season on Saturday at No. 13 Gonzaga.
