Germany's Geisenberger continues reign atop luge in World Cup

ALTENBERG, Germany -- Natalie Geisenberger led a German sweep of the top three places to claim her third successive luge World Cup title with a record eighth win from 10 races on Sunday.

Geisenberger, the Olympic and two-time world champion, was fastest in both runs for a combined time of 1 minute, 45.585 seconds, beating compatriots Tatjana Huefner by 0.283 seconds and Dajana Eitberger by 0.330 for her 31st individual World Cup victory.

American Erin Hamlin was fourth, ahead of another German, Anke Wischnewski, in fifth.

With two races remaining, Geisenberger has an unassailable 925 points, ahead of Eitberger on 666 and Huefner on 622.

Sprint races were scheduled for later Sunday.

Germany's Felix Loch claimed his fourth successive title on Saturday.
