Stars prospect to pay tribute to American Sniper with mask

Stars prospect Jack Campbell has a long history with the United States national team. He joined the USA National Team Development Program as a 16-year-old and helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in the World Junior Championships in 2010.

But Campbell seems to know who a true American hero is, as a recently revealed design for his mask this season shows he will pay tribute to "American Sniper" Chris Kyle.

The former Navy SEAL was one of the greatest snipers in U.S. military history, and he served four tours of duty in Iraq while receiving multiple awards for his service. After the end of his military career, Kyle tried to give back to other veterans by helping them adjust to post-military life and assisting them in battles against PTSD. Kyle was killed on Feb. 2, 2013 by one of the veterans he was trying to help. He was 38 years old.

Campbell was picked 11th overall by the Stars in the 2010 NHL Draft, but he has never managed to break through for a steady NHL career. The goalie split time last season between the AHL Texas Stars and ECHL Idaho Steelheads.
