Marchand hits back at Prust: 'If he wants to act cool about it, that's fine'

Brad Marchand both defended and fired back at Brandon Prust on Monday following comments Prust made regarding his $5,000 fine for spearing Marchand in the groin in a 4-0 Bruins win over Vancouver Saturday.
Prust told reporters that the fine was well worth it, and Marchand responded in an interview with reporters Monday by saying Prust is not the respectable player people might think he is.
"I thought that he played with a lot more class in his game,” Marchand told reporters Monday. "Clearly he doesn’t have that integrity that a lot of people thought he had.
"Brandon’s got lots of money. I know he’s not worried about his five grand. If he wants to act cool about it, that’s fine. I’m not concerned about how he feels."
But Marchand, who has a reputation throughout the league as a bit of a dirty player, did defend Prust's actions in a way. He told reporters Monday that spears like Prust's are simply a part of an emotional game.
"I’m not overly upset about what happened," Marchand said to reporters. "It’s part of the game. I’ve done it, and I’m sure he’s done it before. I’m sure it won’t be the last, and it won’t be the last time I do it."
Marchand and the Bruins got the last laugh against Prust and the Canucks on the scoreboard, however. Boston shut out Vancouver, 4-0, on Saturday and Marchand contributed to the offense with his 13th goal of the season. The Bruins winger ranks seventh in the NHL in goals this season.
