Jurco, Red Wings lost in translation over contract progress
If you want to know what the status of Tomas Jurco's new contract agreement is, you might get a different story from each side.
According to a report from M Live, Jurco told a Slovakian website that he's close to a two-year deal with the Wings. But a different M Live source close to the team claims Jurco's translated statements aren't exactly true.
"A source said Jurco and the Red Wings aren't close to reaching an agreement after Jurco hired a new agent," M Live reported.
The forward is an restricted free agent this summer, and while he spent his first full season at the NHL level last season, he didn't perform as well as he could be capable of due to a back injury that plagued him throughout the year and into the playoffs. Jurco finished the season with 18 points in 63 games.
