Jimmy and Kevin Hayes team up to raise money for injured player Denna Laing

Although brothers Jimmy Hayes and Kevin Hayes play on opposite sides of the rivalry between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers, they are teaming up to help raise money for injured Boston Pride hockey player Denna Laing as she works to recover from a severe spinal cord injury.

Laing was hurt when she tripped on a stick and crashed head-first into the boards at the Women's Winter Classic on Dec. 31. She was left with limited mobility in her arms and has no movement or sensation below the chest. To help assist her family with the costs that come along with such a severe injury, Barstool Sports is selling a T-shirt with the Boston Pride on the front and her name and No. 24 on the back.

After hearing about the initiative, the Hayes brothers -- both Boston natives -- reached out to Barstool and offered to donate $1,000 to Laing's medical fund for every $10,000 raised by the T-shirt sales.

Laing has been providing updates on her condition on Facebook and Twitter. She recently shared a video of herself settling in at rehab with an iced coffee from her favorite coffee shop.
