Edmonton Oilers Trade Targets: Ryan Pulock
With the trade deadline fast approaching, the Edmonton Oilers find themselves in the playoff hunt.
General manager Peter Chiarelli has a couple of areas that he must address to upgrade the Oilers into a Stanley Cup contender. The areas that need the most attention are on the right wing, the right side of the defence corps and between the pipes behind Cam Talbot.
Because the Oilers could benefit from a RHD, the team has plenty of options. And one is Ryan Pulock of the New York Islanders.

Ryan Pulock
Pulock is currently playing for the Bridgeport Tigers of the AHL, and has six goals and 15 points in 21 games this season. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound blueliner fits Chiarelli heavy team mold, and can take on big minutes and has a booming shot. His shot is the missing piece on the power=play for the Oilers as he would draw the other team’s defense to him leaving more room for the Oilers forwards.
Pulock was the 15th overall pick in 2013 and had the same development path as Darnell Nurse who, was the seventh overall pick in the same draft. Pulock is still developing the defensive side of his game, which would require sheltered minutes on the bottom pairing. However, his shot and other great qualities makes him a perfect fit for the Oilers.
Though he is an AHL defender, he is one of the Islanders’ top prospects, meaning his price may go up. However, Chiarelli should target a player like him, and further develop him into a potential top-four, puck-moving defender.
