Crosby stars as Penguins present spoof of 'Home Alone' (VIDEO)

The Pittsburgh Penguins threw their hat in the ring in their bid to win the unofficial contest for the best Christmas spoof of a proven classic.

After the Washington Capitals set the bar fairly high with their rendition of "A Christmas Story" (or more appropriately, "A Capitals Story"), the Penguins attempted to one-up their Metropolitan Division rivals with their remake of the 1990 classic "Home Alone." While Washington captain Alex Ovechkin provides quite the visual with the giant pink bunny costume, Pittsburgh's quartet of captain Sidney Crosby, defensemen Kris Letang and Olli Maatta and rookie Daniel Sprong acquitted itself well as Macaulay Culkin's Kevin McCallister.

Watch closely as each member of the Penguins appears in the 2-minute, 14-second video, in addition to team broadcasters Mike Lange (Johnny, a gangster from the fictional film "Angels with Filthy Souls") and Dan Potash (Kate McCallister).

From superstar Phil Kessel (Joe Pesci's Harry, the leader of the Wet Bandits) to fellow forward Beau Bennett (the pizza guy), Pittsburgh's hockey team might have a future off the ice as well.

"It was a great choice ('Home Alone')," Crosby said. "I knew that one a lot better than I knew 'Christmas Vacation' (the Penguins' choice for movie spoof last year). This one is just a classic. I’ve seen it probably a hundred times. There's some really good parts. I remember every part of that movie. Just seeing which guys fit which characters was pretty funny."
