Blackhawks' Crawford streaking along with consistent play
Superstar Patrick Kane isn't the only member of the Chicago Blackhawks enjoying a red-hot streak.
After turning aside all 25 shots he faced in a 2-0 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, Corey Crawford made 30 saves two nights later in the Blackhawks' 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.
Crawford (15-7-2) has recorded back-to-back shutouts on two occasions this season for Chicago, which has skated to four triumphs in its last five outings. The two-time Jennings Trophy recipient's four blankings this season are tied with Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk and St. Louis Blues netminder Jake Allen for the league lead.
Crawford, who was in net for a pair of 1-0 victories over Tampa Bay and Anaheim in October, kept it all in check with reporters after the game.
Crawford extended his shutout streak to 140 minutes, 46 seconds since yielding a tally to Nashville Predators forward Eric Nystrom in the second period on Tuesday. The 30-year-old Montreal native has turned aside 121 of 123 shots to post a 4-0-0 mark with a razor-thin 0.50 goals-against average and .984 save percentage.
"I started out (the season) pretty strong, (but) kind of dipped a little bit. Now I'm able to get back and have that focus and that preparation ... that battle throughout the whole game."
