Arizona Coyotes' Max Domi Knocks Out Ryan Kesler
Arizona Coyotes winger Max Domi knocked out Ryan Kesler with one punch in a fight in the first period.
The Arizona Coyotes give away a championship belt after every win.
The belt is normally awarded to guys who put forth a great effort that night. The goalscorers or playmakers.
Tonight in a poor effort, the Coyotes Welterweight title should go to Max Domi.
I would say Domi got into a fight with Ryan Kesler, but fights usually require both parties to exchange punches.
This wasn’t the epic street fight of Rocky 4.
Kesler did not get up and shout, “I didn’t hear no bell!”
In fact I am not sure Kesler would have wanted to get back up, or should have.
In the first period Kesler and Domi appeared to exchange words for a few moments before dropping gloves.
Kesler does get a face shove in before the gloves are dropped, but once they are Max Domi wastes no time in giving Kessler an uppercut to the chin.
In fact, if I didn’t know better I would accuse Kesler of throwing this bout. He put his head right down into Domi’s punch.
To recap the fight:
Kessler face shoves Domi.
Domi gets in Kesler’s face and challenges him.
They both drop gloves.
Kesler ducks his head and Domi uppercuts Kesler.
The Arizona Coyotes play-by-play announcer Tyson Nash was impressed.

It was a one punch fight.
Domi gave everyone at the Honda Center a tutorial in uppercuts.
It was such a sweet shot that from this point forward we need to refer to him as Jean Claude Van Domi.
The Coyotes were down 2-0 and Domi tried to provide a spark. Kesler took a two-minute penalty for instigating, but the ensuing power play did not go the Coyotes way. Nor did the rest of the game.
I am a fan of fighting in hockey, however I would much rather take the tally in the win column than the kudos in the KO column.
One thing I am sure of is that if any other player wants to throw down with Jean Claude Van Domi, they better expect a quick strike because Domi is wired to put up a heck of a fight.
As I watched the rest of the game and realized that this was nearly the only highlight on the Arizona Coyotes’ side, I would much rather have had Domi shoot the puck as quick as he landed that uppercut.
If he did maybe the team wouldn’t be out shot by double digits tonight.
