Tom Brady is a speed demon, according to Tom Brady's mom
For all the havoc that he can wreak on opponents through the air, Tom Brady isn't exactly the most dangerous mobile threat on the ground. The New England Patriots quarterback is certainly shifty and elusive in the pocket. But when he runs, it often looks like he's in slow motion compared to the guys around him.
Plus, his taped up cleats make him look like a Clydesdale.
But there's still one person who believes in Brady's magic wheels even as he approaches his 40s: His mom.
During Wednesday's media session, the Patriots quarterback was asked about how he's feeling physically and if his legs feel even fresher than usual, thanks to the four-game suspension he served to start the year. Brady said he feels good, but knows he's still not the fastest guy out there.
He still has trouble convincing his mom of that, though.
"Don't tell my mom that. She would totally disagree with that," Brady said. "She thinks I'm very fast. She'll say, 'I think you're the fastest person on the field.' I say, 'Mom, you're crazy. There's no way.' That's moms."
Just when you thought Patriots fans couldn't possibly be more partial to Brady, it turns out they can't even hold a candle to the homer that is Mrs. Brady. But, as they say, a mother's love knows no bounds — even if it requires a wild bold-faced lie to make the child feel good about himself.
