Tom Brady 'Blocking' for LeGarrette Blount Needs Some Work (Video)

Tom Brady is the New England Patriots’ golden goose and, while tough as they come, plays like this remind us that it’s better for him to preserve his health.
The New England Patriots saw their second-best player, Rob Gronkowski, leave the field early on after already entering their Week 12 game questionable on the injury report. Quarterback Tom Brady doesn’t want to become another casualty having already been listed on the injury report himself
So when a cutback forced him into run blocking for star running back LeGarrette Blount, you best believe that Brady played it safe.

This whole play is gold. First of all, the Jets have this pitch play completely snuffed out. Blount sees Leonard Williams to wrap him up, and he sure as heck isn’t about to get smoked today. So Blount “nopes” the heck out of there and decides to bounce the play to the other side of the field.
And it works. Because there is absolutely nobody there. Blount, however, only has Brady as a lead blocker. That’s no problem, though, because Blount gets the first down, picking up 1- sweet yards on a play that should have failed.
The best part of it all, though, is Brady’s “block.” He sees the hungry Jets defenders looking to clock Blount and he literally wades through them. I mean, he looks like a retail worker on Black Friday, just walking through people fighting over the last TV on sale.
Yet, Brady’s “block” was incredibly effective—somehow. The Jets defenders barely touched him and he walked right through the middle of them without stumbling. More importantly, Brady’s diversion allowed Blount to dive for the first down. Now that’s teamwork.
