Redskins tight end Reed limited in practice by quadriceps issue

Tight end Jordan Reed was limited in practice Thursday, presenting a potential problem at a position where depth is an issue for Washington Redskins.
The oft-injured Reed was unable to practice fully due to a quadriceps issue. He was coming off a strong season debut in a 17-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, hauling in seven catches for 63 yards and Washington's lone touchdown.
Durability has been a recurring problem for Reed, who missed 12 games over his first two seasons. He was hurt in the season opener a year ago and did not return until Week 6.
The Redskins lost tight ends Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen to season-ending injuries in the preseason. If Reed is unable to play Sunday versus the St. Louis Rams, seldom-used Anthony McCoy and Derek Carrie would likely split time. The Redskins already are without top wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who pulled a hamstring in the season opener.
