Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith out for Sunday, possibly rest of season
As if the Minnesota Vikings have not suffered enough injuries in 2016, they could now be without safety Harrison Smith for the remainder of the season.
After last Thursday’s game, Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith was seen leaving U.S. Bank Stadium on crutches and his left ankle in a walking boot. No one was able to determine if his injury was serious or not since he finished last week’s game without any signs of a significant ankle problem.
But unfortunately for the Vikings, Smith’s injury is indeed serious enough that it will prevent him from playing this Sunday when the team heads to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars.
Minnesota’s safety has a grade 3 ankle sprain that will keep him out of this week’s game and possibly even the rest of the regular season according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.

The Smith news is just the latest blow to a Vikings’ roster that has just been decimated by injuries all year long. With his absence on Sunday, the Minnesota safety will become the 24th player to miss at least one regular season game for the Vikings in 2016.
Minnesota is hoping that Smith will miss just one game, but the team could just decide to have him hang it up for the rest of the year when they find out more regarding their playoff chances.
In his fifth year with the Vikings, the safety has yet to miss a game this season. Smith also has two sacks this year and he is currently leading the team in total tackles with 84.
