Miami Dolphins release first depth chart with few surprises

The first week of preseason is upon us, which means teams are releasing their first unofficial depth charts. It gives fans a look at how the team is shaping up and who they can expect to see in the starting lineup Week 1.

The Miami Dolphins released their first depth chart, which features very few surprises.

Ryan Tannehill is obviously the starter at quarterback, with Lamar Miller lined up behind him at running back and a trio of receivers on the outside: Greg Jennings, Kenny Stills, and Jarvis Landry.

Promising rookie Jay Ajayi has taken somewhat of a tumble down the depth chart as he's grouped with three other running backs in "other." Damien Williams appears to be Miller's primary backup, with LaMichael James behind him at No. 3.

On the offensive line, it appears as though Branden Albert will be the starting left tackle, with Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner holding down the guard spots ... for now.

On defense, Kelvin Sheppard was seemingly beat out by Koa Misi for the middle linebacker spot, as was Brice McCain by Jamar Taylor at cornerback. McCain has played well in training camp, but his small stature could have him suited better for a nickel role.

The stout defensive line is made up of Cameron Wake, Ndamukong Suh, Earl Mitchell, and Oliver Vernon. That's a front that no quarterback wants to face.
