Jaguars WR Marqise Lee misses practice again with hamstring issue

With the season opener approaching on Sunday, the chances that injured Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee will be available are dwindling.

Lee, who hasn't practiced since Jacksonville's fifth day of workouts early in August, sat out again Wednesday as he recovers from a hamstring strain.

Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley said the team hasn't officially ruled Lee out of Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, a lack of practice time over the last month likely makes it a longshot.

“Of course, it’s frustrating because everybody wants to play at the beginning of the season,” Lee said, per the Florida Times-Union. “I’ll will continue to work on my treatment to get better.”

Jaguars offensive coordinator Greg Olson, who last week compared the injured second-year receiver to an albino tiger in the zoo because of his rare participation in practice, said his comment wasn't intended to be interpreted negatively.

“I’m a big Marqise Lee fan,” Olson said. “That was not a comment to call him out. I’m just excited every day when I see him out there because he’s got such a unique skill set as a receiver, so I am anxious to get him back.”

In addition to Lee, tight end Julius Thomas, defensive end Andre Branch, defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks and wide receiver Bryan Walters also missed practice Wednesday.
