Browns forced to use fifth QB in five games after Cody Kessler gets injured
The Cleveland Browns thought they had solved their quarterback woes when they added Robert Griffin III in the offseason. Unfortunately, he got injured in Week 1, giving way to Josh McCown. He was a viable backup … until he suffered a shoulder injury in Week 2.
Rookie Cody Kessler vaulted into the starting lineup in Week 3, but even he couldn’t last more than a few weeks. Kessler suffered chest and rib injuries Sunday against the New England Patriots, causing the Browns to turn to Charlie Whitehurst and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor at quarterback.
As a result, the Browns have now used five quarterbacks in their first five games of 2016, continuing the never-ending trend of futility at the position.
The team summed up its woes at quarterback with a string of three tweets over the course of three minutes.
