New York Knicks: Courtney Lee Apologizes To Fans For Team's Performance
Following the New York Knicks’ embarrassing home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, starting shooting guard Courtney Lee apologized to the fans.
The New York Knicks charge a hefty fee to come see one of the worst teams in the NBA. That’s been true for the past decade plus, as owner James Dolan charges close to league-high prices for tickets to see a team that hasn’t made the playoffs since 2013.
Following what ranked amongst the most embarrassing losses of the 2016-17 NBA regular season, the Knicks owed an explanation to the fans who spend their hard-earned money to see them play.
For those who missed it, New York lost 121-107 to the 18-36 Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden. Los Angeles had lost 10 of its previous 12 games, but came to New York and dominated the Knicks.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, starting shooting guard Courtney Lee apologized to the Knicks fans who attended the loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Last night that effort was pretty bad man. Definitely got to apologize to the fans and everybody that spent their hard-earned money to come watch us play. We definitely didn’t show up and compete at a level that we needed to compete at to win the game, especially in the situation we’re in right now and where we’re trying to go. Today was much-needed, we got after it today.”
If nothing else, Lee’s a good man for caring about the fans who pay top dollar to see a team that has criticized itself for lackluster effort and energy.
