NBA legend Shawn Kemp dons yellow 'Savesquatch' suit, dunks the saddest dunk
When you think of Shawn Kemp, you think of the man that launched from just inside the dotted line and poked on Alton Lister, crushing Lister's spirit into oblivion.
He dunked from what seemed to be a deep-seated place hatred for the rim, his opponent, or some combination of both, and that's what we loved about him. It was all vengefulness and spite and lightning and gale. That's why it was the move to buy his jersey and style on all of our friends at school. That's why we called him the Reign Man.
So seeing him in a fuzzy yellow Big Bird getup and pedaling us low airline fares as "SaveSquatch" for Spirit Airlines? That hurts. It hurts a lot.
I was trying to find the words for the dunk he did in this little promo. You can't apply any of the verbiage you normally would. You can't say "slams down" or "crams in" or "explodes for" or any of that fun stuff. No, he used two hands to help the ball over the rim.
It was so sad.
If you need me I'll be watching this highlight reel of Kemps best dunks on silent with Diddy and Faith Evans' "Missin' You" playing in the background.
