Is San Antonio worried about the Josh Smith trade?
On Friday, the Houston Rockets acquired Josh Smith from the Los Angeles Clippers for what ultimately amounts to nothing.
All parties hit the reset button on Smith's summer decision to turn down more money from Houston, and sign with a Clippers team that he thought would give him more playing time.
Smith thought wrong. He's been buried on the bench even since Blake Griffin went down with an injury nearly one month ago.
But how does all this affect the San Antonio Spurs? Here's the San Antonio Express-News with more:
It will be interesting to see Smith back with the Rockets as the two teams are primary rivals of the Spurs. Smith was a key part of the Rockets’ rotation last season, averaging 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in three games with the Rockets in 2014-15 — all losses against San Antonio. His best game was a 26-point effort where his scoring total was swelled by a “Hack-a-Josh” strategy employed by Gregg Popovich. Smith went 12-for-26 from the line in that game.
Even though Jason Terry is super pumped to have his buddy back, this deal isn't enough for Houston to get home-court in the first-round, let alone transform them into a blip on San Antonio's radar:

The Spurs are historically great. They're crushing teams on both ends of the court, and have one of the deepest rosters in the league. Worried about Josh Smith, they are not.
