NASCAR hands down penalties following Pocono Raceway
NASCAR has fined Tony Gibson, crew chief for Kurt Busch, $10,000 for an improper body modification at Pocono Raceway.
Gibson's current probation has also been extended until Dec. 31, which he has been serving due to a lug nut violation at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.
The right-rear quater panel of Busch's No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet was found to be modified during pre-race inspection after Monday's Pennsylvania 400, which is why Busch was forced to start at the back of the field.
Josh Patch, crew chief for race winner Chris Buescher and the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford, received a $1,000 fine after a fueler serviced the car with the face shield up during the race.
Teams of Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Martin Truex Jr. received written warnings and a loss of 15 minutes of practice time at Watkins Glen after failing template inspection three times during pre-qualifying inspection.
Other teams receiving written warnings include Regan Smith and David Ragan for failing pre-race laser and template inspection twice, Kyle Larson for failing template inspection twice.
Teams of Casey Mears and Michael McDowell were also handed written warnings for failing pre-qualifying laser inspection twice.
