IndyCar: Rahal to wear Buckeye-themed helmet at Ohio home race

They say a cool paint scheme in racing can help you gain a couple of tenths of a second a lap. This weekend, Graham Rahal will be hoping the same holds true for his new gear.
The 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series heads to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, this weekend where Ohio native Graham Rahal - who currently sits second in the driver standings - will be wearing a Buckeye-themed helmet and gloves.
Rahal, a major Ohio State fan, is coming off of back-to-back podium finishes heading to Mid-Ohio, and placed fifth at this circuit last year. The 26-year-old currently sits 42 points back of Juan Pablo Montoya in the standings and will be hoping that a solid finish at his home track will be enough to close the gap with just two races to go after this one.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the 18 Buckeye leaves represent each of Rahal's 18 podium finishes in the IndyCar series whereas the No. 15 - which is Rahal's regular car number - is also the number of the Buckeye's standout running back Ezekiel Elliott.
