Motorcycle racer Dane Westby, 28, was killed Monday night when he hit a utility pole while riding his bike on the way to his parents’ house in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
RoadRacingWorld.com reports that "The Wolverine" may have been trying to avoid something in the road at the time of the incident.
Earlier this month, Westby rode his bicycle from his Oklahoma home to Daytona International Speedway in Florida to drive the pace car for the Daytona 200. He had planned to race in the Superstock 1000 series this year. Dane is survived by his parents Tryg and Jane Westby, his sister Scarlett and his girlfriend Patricia Fernandez.
